Why a routine helps

Steel buildings last a long time when water is kept out and small paint damage is touched up early. Most care takes an hour or two, a few times a year.

The schedule

WhenCheckWhy
MonthlyAir-conditioner filters; drains and traps; battery and inverter status on the displayEfficiency and early warnings
Every 3 monthsClean solar panels in dusty areas; clear gutters and roof drainageKeeps output up and water moving
Every 6 monthsSealant around windows, doors and roof penetrations; signs of condensation insideStops leaks before they start
Every yearExterior paint for scratches and rust spots; base frame and corner castings; tie-downs; levelnessProtects the steel and the structure
After stormsRoof, panels and fixings; drainage around the foundationCatches damage early

Touching up paint and rust

  1. Clean the area and remove loose rust with a wire brush.
  2. Apply a rust-inhibiting primer.
  3. Finish with paint matched to your colour. Ask us for the colour reference.

Coastal and humid sites

  • Rinse salt off the exterior and solar panels more often.
  • Check fixings and exposed steel at least twice a year.
  • Keep ventilation open to avoid condensation inside.

Solar and battery care

  • Keep the power room ventilated and free of dust.
  • Note battery state of charge and any warnings on the inverter display.
  • Do not open battery or inverter enclosures; contact a qualified electrician or our support team.
