Shipping documents
Each shipment comes with the standard export documents:
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
- Bill of lading
Some countries ask for more, such as a certificate of origin or product certificates. Tell us your destination early so we can prepare what your customs broker needs.
Customs classification and duties
Prefabricated buildings are commonly classified under HS heading 9406, but the exact code, duty rate and taxes depend on your country and on how the goods are described. Your customs broker confirms the classification and the amounts payable.
Use a customs broker
A local customs broker or freight forwarder handles import declarations, pays duties on your behalf, arranges port release and books the truck to your site. On FOB orders, a forwarder can also book the sea freight from China.
From port to site
- Units leave the port on a flatbed or container truck.
- Check road access: bridges, tight turns and soft ground near the site.
- Book a crane sized for the unit weight and the lifting distance.
- Plan the order of delivery for multi-module homes and larger projects.
Timing
Total time is production plus transit plus clearance. Production depends on the plan, options and order size; transit depends on your destination port. Your quote includes a production schedule, and your forwarder can give a transit estimate for your route.
